Achievements
- We have been conducting training courses for the endoscopic doctors.
- Following policy of the Ministry of Health, we have improved endoscopic system in Bhutan. It has allowed us to increase the quality of diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract diseases.
- We have been organizing professional annual meeting for digestive diseases and conducting endoscopic training course for endoscopic doctors twice a year.
- In the past, the endoscopic doctors were trained and have graduated under the guidance of surgeons in Thailand, India and other countries. To improve their skills and make them internationally recognized endoscopists we have initiated to retrain them under the guidance of renowned gastroenterologists from Japan. This has also made our reporting and diagnosis of digestive problems more uniform.
- In the field of research, active research and support activities for national and international researchers are being organized.
International Relations
We have been collaborating with the institutions from many countries such as Japan, Austria, Germany, and Thailand for sharing knowledge during academic conferences and practical training in Bhutan. Since 2018, we have been organizing training on the zoom with endoscopy technology for detection of early gastric cancer and therapeutic endoscopy practice training collaboration with doctors in Japan and Thailand.
